Ambleside is truly a destination for all seasons. Spring and summer bring wonderful lush green colour to the fells mirrored onto Lake Windermere below and is the time that the ancient village traditions of the Ambleside Sports and the Rushbearing take place, a must for any first or returning visitor. Autumn and winter bring rich reds and golds to the trees and fellsides and the more modern festival of the Christmas Lights and lantern parade takes place at the end of November, a spectacle not to be missed.
