There are many low level routes to be taken from the doorstep and for those who prefer something more strenuous, Scafell, Great Gable and their surrounding peaks are all possible day trips from the cottage. There is a general store in the nearby village of Rosthwaite and 2 public bars within walking distance. Derwentwater is 3 miles and Keswick, with all its visitors attractions is only 7 miles.
