There are fabulous walks on the fells around Portinscale, mountain bike trails in Whinlatter forest and sailing on Derwentwater and Bassenthwaite Lakes. The more adventurous may try paragliding or rock climbing. The view point for the famous Bassenthwaite Ospreys is within 3 miles of Bracken Howe.
