Acorn Cottage is situated right in the heart of Braithwaite, a popular Lakeland village which has 2 excellent pubs, each of which serves good quality bar meals and real Ale, 2 restaurants and a village shop. Braithwaite lies midway between Derwentwater and Bassenthwaite Lake at the foot of Whinlatter Pass, looking towards Skiddaw and only 2 mile from the bustling market town of Keswick. There is a visitor centre on Whinlatter with Forest Trails and tracks for mountain biking and plenty of good walks on the fells surrounding Braithwaite, such as the Coledale Round and Grisedale Pike.
