Built around 1670 and steeped in history, with beams which were once sailing ships spars, this holiday cottage, one of a row, became the home in 1759 to Thomas Paine, a founding father of the U.S.A. and French Republic and contains a collection of Revolutionary War literature including works by Paine. Ideally located for exploring this former Cinque Port town. Shop and pub 25 yards. Entrance hall. Two steps down to beamed living room/study with library area, wood-burning stove and wooden floor. Step up to well-equipped, beamed kitchen/dining room with range (for cooking) and tiled floor. Separate toilet. Steep spiral stairs to first floor: Landing with twin beds.
